Yellowstone September 2011

This September our friends Trent and Chantel invited us to go up to her grandpa's cabin in yellowstone! We thought it sounded like a lot of fun.
Our friend Chris Dyches rode up with us. It was not too bad of a drive to get there. The only problem was that recently Liam had gotten in the habit of screaming. Not just screaming, he does a super high pitched, very loud scream! And he is NOT fond of riding in the car. It did help some that I rode in the back seat and could play with him, but he just wanted to be out. Needless to say, I think we were all happy to get there and to be out of the car.
When we got to the cabin There was a wooden barn/shed ouside that was just beautiful and so I decided to snap a few pictures of Clara in front of it. She has been so..goofy lately. So  most of them are just goofy faces because she just wants to be silly. But I love how silly she is.

Inside the cabin it was so charming and cozy! I was talking to Chantel in the kitchen and she informed us that a family of moose kind of live on the property and they had been around every day, so to be careful not to let the kids wander. I am pretty afraid of animals..big ones anyway. And I have heard some horror stories about moose. So I decided to make sure Clara was near me all the time since Liam was too little to go outside on his own anyway. But Clara was dying to go outside so I took her out for a while. The cabin is situated right next to the river so we looked out and saw a pelican!

Here is Clara with the pelican, she was kind of weary of it and wasn't  so sure about turning her back on it.
Such a beautiful view!
Being goofy again! She sticks her bottom teeth out in front of her upper ones and smiles. So silly!
                                                       The cabin
Trent was nice enough to offer to take us for a ride on the boat. I decided to stay with Liam but Clara was excited to go!

When the boat was leaving she kept looking back like she wasn't sure what she had agreed to.
The next day we headed into Yellowstone National Park. I have been there a few times for our family vacations and have always had a good time. But for Chris, it was his first time. It was a perfect time to go because it was not crowded at all. The weather was unseasonably warm for the very end of September but it was perfect!

So the next pictures are a little out of order....
Below is Liam in the car, happy!

Clara looking out the window for animals
This was dinner our first night. Chantel made the yummiest stew in an actual pumpkin. SO fun! I ended up getting the recipe from her because it is such a fun tradition and so good!
Clara dancing at the table.
From the left, Tennison, Clara, Findley. Clara loved these boys and they loved her! They are way into super hero's. Tennison was dressed as Batman half the time and Findley was Robin. So when Clara got there they had already picked out who she would be. Wonder Woman of course! So that is what they called her quite often. It was so cute to see them play. And actually after this trip I found out how much she liked these boys. Clara always tells me she is going to get married in the temple. So a week or so after the trip we were driving by the temple and she told me again that that is where she is going to get married. I asked her who she would marry. She informed me that she is going to marry Tennison! Haha. I laughed so hard. How cute, her first crush! I guess we will see how that one turns out!
Liam and Daddy just taking it easy
Here they are in front of the Pumpkin. Sidenote: Clara and Findley are the same age. She is so tall!
Clara decided she needed to borrow Chantel's boots.

I am not sure why I don't have a picture of it, but we all slept in a little loft that you have to climb a ladder to get up. So fun! I felt like we were in a treehouse!

I love babies sleeping.

And here we are at our first stop at Yellowstone.

I don't really know how this picture got in the middle of the post, but it is Liam sitting at the table of the pizza place we went for dinner after a day at Yellostone.
Batman and Wonder Woman

Sleepy babies!
Clara had to push Liam in the stroller.
I love all of the beautiful geysers but they sure do smell!
I love this picture becaues Clara has her cheesy smile and Liam has a frown.
Clara has been becoming more and more independent lately. She just decided she would wander off on her own to explore. Good thing we were watching!

I think Liam has picked up some tips from Clara on how to cheese it up for the camera. :) So cute. For a few weeks this is how he would smile..scrunch up his little nose and squint his eyes. So funny!

We stopped at the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone which I don't remember ever doing before so that was fun. Chris, Trent, and Chris Dyches decided to sit it out because they were tired of walking...and I must say maybe don't appreciate the beauties of nature like Chantel and I apparently do. But it was beautiful!

I did get Chris to pose with Liam. Oh my happy boy. I just love him!!!!
The entire trip Clara wanted to see animals because that is what we told her we would see. So that is what she kept asking for. After driving for a bit we see the cars in front of us slow way down. Turns out there is a Buffalo walking along the side of the road right next to the cars! So I turn to Clara to tell her and of course she is sleeping. So I shake her and yell that there is a buffalo right by our car. I tried everything. But she would not wake up for anything. SO....she just had to look at the pictures. Luckily she was perfectly happy just knowing it walked right past our car. (which reminds me of the time we went to Yellowstone when I was pretty young still. That trip a buffalo came right up to my window and just stared me down. I believe I started crying and I wouldn't doubt if that incident scarred me and is part of the reason I am afraid of big wild animals).
I wish I could have gotten a better picture..perhaps of the other end of the buffalo, but by the time we realized what was going on the buffalo was right next to the car and there was no way I was sticking half my body out the window as his head passed by. But it was fun to see all the same!
More car ride fun!
The one stop we all wanted to make was Old Faithful, because how can you go to Yellowstone and not see that?
Here my little family is waiting for the big event!
I love these two handsome boys!
The whole family
This is Trent and Chantel and their two adorable boys Tennison and Findley.

Clara talking to Liam about the "water fountain".
One of Liam's classic faces.
There she blows!

When we were leaving I wanted to get some of Liam in front of the barn as well since he was sleeping before. So here they are
The sun was bright
Deep in thought
Eating dirt
It  must not have tasted to great.
Clara being silly again

And below are the boys. From the left Chris Dyches, Chris Cotton, Trent
We had a blast at Yellowstone with our friends. We love being with Chris, Chantel, Trent and the kids. I am so glad they invited us to go up with them. Thanks Trent and Chantel we had a blast!
